I believe that a strong city starts within the communities. I will work hard to help prioritize the needs of the community and facilitate them at city hall.
My name is Kimberly Feser and I want to be your next Ward 9 City Councillor. I live in Calgary SE, and have been a part of the community for 10 years. I was raised in Alberta, went to Red Deer College, started my career as a Pharmacy Technician in Edmonton and was married in Calgary! I live and breathe Alberta, and that includes having the opportunity to raise my 3 children in this great city I call home. I have volunteered in a number of roles in the community, from leadership to working on a team to build governance. I know how it feels to have our lives affected by the decisions made at City Hall; bloated budgets always come back to the taxpayer. I believe we can find a balance that keeps our essential programs that are needed and trims the budget while we work on attracting new business opportunities post pandemic.
I believe our city requires term limits for council and mayor. We need fresh ideas and ingenuity to keep Calgary vibrant for all, hence why I will push for a 2 term maximum for councillors. We also need to lead by example; we need to show Calgary residents fiscal responsibility and that starts with putting forward a wage rollback for council and mayor.
The City of Calgary has an annual operating budget of approximately 4 billion dollars. As a new councillor, I will work with the Council to put a stop to tax increases for homeowners and businesses. The City of Calgary has an annual operating budget of approximately 4 billion dollars. As a new councillor, I will work with the Council to put a stop to tax increases for homeowners and businesses. I believe a third-party forensic audit will help us find savings in the City. Council will need to work together to implement these efficiencies and cost-saving measures. This will help the taxpayer save their hard-earned money, now; and in the future.
Ward 9 is fortunate to be filled with so many diverse communities. Each and every community has its own unique requisites. I want to listen to you, work hard to represent your community, and find a balance with the City to achieve the goals of the ward and the communities within. I promise to have a monthly meeting with the communities, either virtually or in person.
